Pedestrian Hierarchy
Key Streets and Spaces Plan

The adjacent diagram identifies a hierarchy of streets within the
city centre.
This hierarchy is not intended to be rigidly applied or followed
as there will be exceptions.
Within the city centre there are clusters of institutions, retail/commercial
uses, public transport services and pedestrian streets, which develop
a hierarchy of routes for the public. These routes pass through
and link the various quarters of the city centre.
- Strategic Pedestrian Routes: linking the main institutions,
retail/commercial uses and transport services.
- Key Pedestrian Routes and spaces: providing the main links within
and between Quarters.
