What we do
The Media Team is responsible for providing a full, round the clock media relations service for the Council, internal communications, direct communications with residents and corporate events.
This work includes:
- Highlighting the positive work of the Council and promoting the city of Sheffield.
- Communicating what's happening in the city to local, national and international media via press releases and by responding to media requests.
- Direct communications with residents, including the Your Council supplement, Your Council Your Say and Your Sheffield (on behalf of Sheffield First Partnership).
- Organising corporate events, including launch and community events and VIP visits.
Communications Officers are responsible for the council's media relations at a directorate and corporate level. This includes proactively telling the media what the council is doing as well as responding to media enquiries about the council.
